families and education issues are a part of it. when we look at what happened in you are aoa, we recognize a bigger issue that must be addressed here if we focus on gun control, we lose the opportunity to address these issues. my point and position has been, let's make the gun control conversation about a larger, more comprehensive addressing of major problems that ail our community by the videos, violence in movies, mental issues and the breakdown of the american family. these are the issues on a broader scale, on the national level we have to address. denver can't do it alone, nor other cities across this nation. >> let me ask you about what's going on in your state in terms of the presidential campaign. this is still a battleground state. it is still too close to clearly put in the president's column. what will move the needle in colorado? >> i think when we step back and look at it, the fact is we have a great deal of independence in colorado. there is a great deal of optimism going on in colorado. we had consecutive months of
